CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Coordinates and assists departments with financial oversight of actual results to plan, with a focus on identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiencies to support current goals and objectives. Performs financial evaluation of new programs and capital equipment requests as requested by department leadership. Prepares analyses and reviews financial results for accuracy in conjunction with the monthly financial statement close. Prepares analysis for appropriate revenue and expense capture. Aids in revenue integrity efforts. Directs operating plan preparation and forecasting in conjunction with the office of financial planning and analysis. Monitors, effectively summarizes, and communicates the status of all financial targets/goals. Serves as the Finance representative on all committees as requested. Ensures that all operational managers are provided training on all available financial systems and reports that are necessary to independently manage their departments. Summarizes, monitors, and reports on the status of all financial targets for each department. Trains, mentors, hires, and supervises department staff, as needed. Ensures internal control oversight and compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding of assets, compliance with University policies and procedures, reliability of internal and external reporting, and efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Creates an effective control environment, conducts risk assessment, implements, and monitors controls.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent.

Experience:
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience

- Knowledge of business and management principles.
- Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
- Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
- Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.

- Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
- Ability to translate and present complicated concepts into simple items with actionable analysis.

Department Specific Functions
This Asst. VP, Finance role will support the Ambulatory Services leadership in the evaluation of the financial performance of key locations, offering insight into financial outcomes and business processes to support organizational goals. This position collaborates across multiple departments, shared services, and financial peers. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, the ability to simplify complex concepts, effective teamwork, and a solid understanding of finance and accounting principles.
