Description
The Financial Aid Technician is primarily responsible for intake of students and documentation. This role will support student traffic for the FA office.
Examples of Duties
- Supports the Financial Aid Office in maintaining Financial Aid programs and departmental file management.
- Provides financial aid assistance to prospective and enrolled students.
- Assist students and prospective students in the completion of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
- Counsel students on financial aid eligibility and payment options (direct intake).
- Assist in the evaluation and processing of Emergency Aid.
- Assist in assembling Emergency Grant Reports to the State and other Agencies.
- Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal agencies.
- Maintains technical competencies necessary to the job function.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Education
Associate’s Degree, required; experience in administering financial aid programs at 2-year schools preferred.
Experience
All persons must provide verifiable and relevant professional experience in a work-place setting or demonstrated instructional/teaching environment.

- Microsoft Office computer skills and ability to use the College computer information system with attention to detail and accuracy.

Physical Demands
The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
