Financial Aid Counselor
Job Description
The Financial Aid Counselor is responsible for the assistance and program compliance in administering the U.S. Federal Student Aid programs, the Florida Department of Education's state grants and scholarships programs, and all other institutional and private financial aid programs by following the required regulations. The Financial Aid Counselor also provides exemplary customer service to students, parents, and internal and external customers.
Essential Job Functions:
- Counsels students and parents on the financial aid application process, the various types, and amounts of aid available, and online procedures.
- Answers phones, E-Mails, and other correspondence within 24 hours and provides friendly, professional, helpful service.
- Monitors, reports and ensures student eligibility and program compliance on all Federal, Institutional, and Florida-DOE State grant and scholarship programs.
- Prepares various fund reports and other related reports as requested by the Director of Financial Aid.
- Transmits award and disbursement information to the Division of Business and Finance for payment to students.
- Serves as back-up to the Federal and State Work-study Program.
- Responsible for assisting with the development of communication documents for current and prospective students and posting scholarship opportunities.
- Assist students with applying for private scholarships.
Education and Experience:
An Associate's degree in Business Administration or related field and/or a minimum of two years of student financial aid experience in the Office of Financial Aid at a post-secondary educational institution. Knowledge of NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association), rules and regulations preferably Division II level.
